How Venture Signal handles the personal data you give us when you subscribe to the London 07:00 Briefing. Last updated 31 October 2026.

Who we are

Venture Signal (venturesignal.org) is an independent publication on AI, venture capital and unit economics. We are the controller of the personal data described below for the purposes of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. You can reach us about anything in this policy at [email protected].

What we collect

  • Subscription form: your email address, which edition you chose (daily briefing, weekly deep dive or both), and the date and time you ticked the consent box.
  • Abuse protection: a one-way hash of your IP address, kept only so that we can limit repeated or automated submissions. We cannot recover your IP address from it.
  • Your browser: the runway calculator, the Signal vs Noise switch and the grants radar remember your settings in your own browser (local storage). That information stays on your device and is not sent to us.

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not sell, rent or trade your data.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

We use your email address only to send you the editions you asked for. Our legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR). Hashed IP addresses are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the form free from abuse (Article 6(1)(f)).

How long we keep it

We keep your subscription record until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you unsubscribe, we keep only your email address on a suppression list for as long as needed to make sure we do not email you again. Hashed IP addresses are deleted after 90 days.

Where it is stored and who can see it

Subscriber data is stored on secure servers in various jurisdictions. Wherever it is held, it is protected to the standard set by Convention 108 of the Council of Europe on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data. Access is limited to the people who run Venture Signal and to our infrastructure providers, who act only on our instructions. We will not pass your data to anyone else unless the law requires it.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or send it to you in a portable format. You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to us; withdrawing consent does not affect emails sent before that. We will answer within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), although we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal data we will update this page and the date at the top.
